FAA Requirements for Commercial Pilot License
To obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), you must meet the following FAA requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Hold at least a second-class medical certificate issued by an FAA-authorized aviation medical examiner.
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.
- Have at least 250 hours of flight time, which includes:
- 100 hours of pilot-in-command time.
- 50 hours of cross-country flight time.
- 20 hours of flight training with an instructor.
- 10 hours of solo flight time.
- Pass a written knowledge test.
- Pass a practical test (checkride) with an FAA examiner.
